As OSS you will always have KiCAD available to you.

This tutorial will be based on KiCAD and will teach the basics of PCB design. KiCAD is the most mature open source software (OSS) PCB CAD tool available presently. Both support 2-layer boards with some restrictions for free. Eagle and Diptrace are freemium model software. Altium, Allegro and PADS are commercial tools. Once you learn your first PCB CAD tool learning more should not be as difficult.

Each tool has its own design choices, with these come advantages and disadvantages. The principles behind PCB CAD tools are generally similar. Some examples include: Altium, Allegro, PADS, Eagle, Diptrace and KiCAD.
